As a result her status changed from incoming freshman to a college transfer student. As a result when she completes her first semester she will be a sophomore!

08/15/2015: Salvatore Gualtieri, Uncle Joe’s son, celebrated his 88th birthday this month. He is in good health. At the party is daughter Amy mentioned the number 8 being a very good number in Chinese culture - so they had some fun with 88 and doing some double celebrating. "Feeling Great at 88" was the motto for the day.

06/23/2015 #1: Salvatore Gualtieri, my brother, passed away on 6/17/2015. We brought him home from the hospital the day before with the help of Home Hospice Care. He died while Teresa Guthrie, his niece and Louie Gualtieri’s daughter, was holding his hand. He is going to be cremated. Then Teresa will take him and his wife, Neva, to the cemetery in Dallas City and bury them along side Mario and Louie’s family. Teresa has been there for 3 weeks. She went to help him after the car accident since he had a broken arm. She was there many, many times 24 hours a day. Not just in the room, but she held his hand, and fed him. She would talk to him constantly and get help when he asked for it. Just watching her was stressful; she had to be an angel. Clorinda, his niece and Louie Gualtieri’s daughter, would come after work to help out. Sol always asked where Teresa was. It was really hard, especially, when Sol starting talking to his deceased brothers and then to our Mother. He really wanted to become a centenarian, but at lease he is no longer in pain.
#2: Mary Gualtieri Jamrozik, Uncle Joe’s daughter says she is doing OK. She had a PET Scan of her lungs; they found a small growth in her lung but the doctor said he is not too worried right now but will keep an eye on it.

05/08/2015: From Frank Shortsleeve: "We visited with our surgeon, Barbara Pockaj M.D., yesterday. Rose decided on having A double mastectomy with no reconstruction. The surgery is scheduled for June 4th at 10:30 AM. We were told she will need two weeks at home after surgery. In the meantime since Rose is having So much trouble walking with pain it was suggested that a bone scan be taken to determine whether Any evidence of bone cancer. The surgeon commented that if bone cancer is found there would be no Breast surgery. We did not ask her to qualify her comment but we assume it meant that bone cancer Is less manageable than breast cancer and that emphasis would be directed to the bone cancer. We Are praying the bone scan will show negative cancer cells. The scan is scheduled for May 11th."

05/07/2015: I got news today from Clorinda, Louie’s daughter, that my brother Sol / Sam Gualtieri had a car accident yesterday on the way to a doctor appointment. The ambulance took him to the hospital where they took several X-rays. They found he had a broken arm and they also found a lot of fluid in his lungs.
