The following is information about some of our 2011 activities:

 

12/26/2011: Rose Gualtieri Balen passed away in her sleep . Visitation is Monday January 2th from 4-6 at Rowe's Funeral Home in Grand Rapids. The funeral is Tuesday the 3rd at 10:30 at St Joseph's Catholic Church in Grand Rapids. Please keep Rosie in your prayers.
 

12/18/2011 #1: Alexis Demko, my granddaughter, was just notified that she is one of 113 Gold Keys winners in her county that were awarded for their accomplished writing works. There were over 1405 submissions to The Scholastic Writing Awards in her county this year. Gold Key works will be forwarded to the national level of The Scholastic Writing Awards. National winners are announced March 15, 2012.
#2: Rose Balen, my sister, is doing well in the nursing home. They have reduced the number of medications she is taking.
 

11/11/2011: Austin Gualtieri, my grandson, Danial Gualtieri’s son was rushed to the hospital yesterday and had to have his appendix removed. He is in a little pain but doing fine today. He is home tonight. Danial was out of town to give a presentation and had to cancel everything to take the next flight back. The doctor was concerned that it may have erupted but luckily it had not.
 

09/29/11 - On September 13, 2011 Danial Gualtieri, my son, was named as one of 3 inventors of on a new US Patent, # US 8,016,034 B2, for "METHODS OF FLUID PLACEMENT AND DIVERSION IN SUBTERRANEAN FORMATIONS".
The abstract on the patent is:
Improved methods of placing and/or diverting treatment fluids in subterranean formations are provided. In one embodiment, the methods comprise: introducing a diverting material into a subterranean formation penetrated by a well bore to reduce or prevent the flow of fluid into a first portion of the subterranean formation; introducing a first fluid into a second portion of the subterranean formation having a higher fluid flow resistance than the first portion of the subterranean formation; allowing the diverting material to be removed from the subterranean formation after at least a portion of the first fluid has been introduced into the second portion of the subterranean formation; and introducing a second fluid into the first portion of the subterranean formation.

June 27, 2011: Louie Gualtieri’s granddaughter Amber (Clorinda’s daughter) got married on May 21, 2011.
Amber Brianna Throne-Larrow married Gillard John Gillis on May 21, 2011.

06/20/11: #1 Louie Gualtieri has moved back to Nevada.
#2: Phyllis Sprovieri Caruso, my Mom’s sister, Mary Cicero Sprovieri’s daughter, died on January 20, 2011 in the hospital and is buried at Queen of Heaven. Phyllis was born January 09, 1931 in Chicago.
#3: My brother Eddie Gualtieri’s second wife, Yvonne Frazer, passed away on June 11, 2011. She would have been 77 on the 16th of June.
#4: Jolene Gualtieri, daughter of Don and Granddaughter to Louie Gualtieri will be heading to New York on June 18, 2011 to spend her summer working at a summer camp before she will return home in August to continue with her sophomore year of college.
 

05/29/11: #1 Louie Gualtieri has another grand-daughter, Avery Claire Grospe; see Photo Page.
#2: Uncle Joe Gualtieri’s great granddaughter Betsy Hutchinson Pierz earned her Master’s Degree ‘with distinction’ from Northern Arizona University; see Photo Page.
#3: Uncle Domiano’s family had an Easter Dinner/Party in Torino.
#4: I made my usual Easter Lamb with a fennel rub for our family and it was very good. Give it a try, Easter Lamb Recipe.
#5: Louie Gualtieri’s daughter Teresa and her husband Mike had a family reunion in May. Louie also got to meet with his son Mark and his wife.

 

On May 16 2011, Uncle Joe’s great granddaughter and Joe Hutchinson’s (Rose Gualtieri Hutchinson’s son) youngest daughter Betsy Hutchinson Pierz earned her Master’s Degree "with distinction" from Northern Arizona University.

May 11, 2011:On May 11, 2011 at 4:23 Avery Claire Grospe was born to Samantha Korzelius Grospe and Jason Grospe - Tami Gualtieri Korzelius’s daughter and Louie Gualtieri’s great granddaughter. She weighed 9 lbs. and was 19 1/2 inches long.

04/18/11: Tony Gualtieri received a copy today of his second leather craft article published in the May/June issue of (Volume 21 Number 3) of ’The Leather Crafters & Saddlers Journal’ Magazine titled ’How To Make A Custom Cell Phone Holder.’ It should be on the newsstands shortly; see page 7.
 

April 12, 2011 - Louie Gualtieri just completed a trip our west. He visited his kids and grandkids and visited Mom and Dad’s grave. On the way home he visited his brother Mario.

March 27, 2011 - Austin Gualtieri, Danial Gualtieri’s son and my grandson, got first place in the 180 lbs weight class at the Lamar Consolidated High School Wrestling Tournament for the Varsity boys.

03/27/11: Sol/Sammy Gualtieri had the small tumor removed; they think they got it all. To be safe he is having radiation and chemo treatments.
 

02/05/11: I talked to Sol/Sammy Gualtieri and he said he had an MRI and it did not show any cancer. He has a small tumor that they are going to take out soon then he will have his shoulder worked on.
